Shaanxi's Export Grows 42.6% in the First Half of 2017

Relying on regional advantages, Shaanxi has endeavored to create “the new heights of opening up in inland area” and further integrate into the Belt and Road, which expanded cooperative relationship with countries along the Belt and Road. At present, more and more “Made-in-Shaanxi Products” go global. At the monthly consultation forum held by Shaanxi Provincial CPPCC, committee members offered advice on how to increase the competitiveness of “Shaanxi Made Products”.

Until the end of 2016, Shaanxi has conducted import and export trade with partners in 201 countries and regions, among which there were 199 export destinations and 108 source of import. Shaanxi import and export value in 2016 reached RMB 197.48 billion, ranked 2nd in growth rate in China with an increase of 4.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, among which the annual import and export value contributed by non-public sectors reached RMB 175.076 billion, accounting for 88.7% of the total amount in Shaanxi.

Statistics from Xi’an Customs showed that in January to June this year, Shaanxi import and export value reached RMB 120.23 billion, an increase of 27% compared to the same period of the previous year, among which the export value reached RMB 68.67 billion with increase of 42.6%, ranked 6th in China with growth rate 27.6% higher than the average.

The Shaanxi based Middle East China Engineering Trade Co., Ltd expanded the foreign market in 1990s, being the first batch of enterprises in Shaanxi to “go global”. Wan Changqing, committee member of Shaanxi Provincial CPPCC, President of the Overseas Chinese Federation in UAE and the Chairman of Middle East China Engineering Trade Co., Ltd told the press, “the Belt and Road has brought us new opportunities for development. We have attached focus on further development and how to boost the non-public enterprises in Shaanxi to go global along the Belt and Road”.

With unique natural conditions and regional advantages, the fruit industry in Shaanxi has developed into a competitive industry. How to further expand foreign market for Shaanxi fruits and boost fruit export merit our efforts.

Oriented by modern cold chain logistics, this model has integrated the establishment of flexible cooperation among “fruit growers, competitive enterprises and cooperative”, and technical innovation including storage, processing, packing, transportation, delivery and marketing.
