The Governor of Kyoto Prefecture, Takatoshi Nishiwaki headed the delegation of the Union of Kansai Governments to visit Shaanxi on November 26th.

The Secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee Hu Heping and the Governor of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province Liu Guozhong extended their warm greetings to the delegation.

According to Hu Heping, Shaanxi is the vital birthplace of the Chinese nation and civilization while Chang’an has witnessed a profound communication history between China and Japan. 2018 is the 40th anniversary of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and also the 35th anniversary of the established relationship between Shaanxi and Kyoto Prefecture. Against this background, continuous communications and cooperation has been strengthened with numerous achievements in various fields. Now Shaanxi has been integrating itself into the Belt and Road Initiative. The regional and transportation advantages provide Shaanxi with an opportunity to vigorously develop the pivot economy, the gateway economy and the flow economy. It also works to bring about a new phase of all-round two-way opening up with links running eastward and westward over land and through the air. Shaanxi is expecting to further develop its relationship with Japan in the fields of economy, trade, culture, technology, tourism, etc., thus to expand personnel exchanges and strive to realize mutual development and benefits.

Takatoshi Nishiwaki said he was impressed by the development achievements of Shaanxi. Kansai and Kyoto are willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation with Shaanxi, so as to contribute to the development of peaceful and friendly relations between the two countries.

Murata Masaharu, the Speaker of the Kyoto Prefectural Assembly, also attended the meeting.
