The Panda Themed Exhibition is waiting for you

It was reported that the culture promotion activity with the theme of pandas in the Qinling Mountains is held from November 19th to 25th.

This activity consists of the opening ceremony, the exhibition themed around panda culture, the Qinling Panda Forum and theatrical performances. Among them, the themed exhibition lasts for one week and visitors can get free tickets with valid certificates.

At least ten giant pandas live in every 100 square kilometers in the Qinling Mountains

The deputy director of Shaanxi Forestry Administration Dang Shuangren, at the media briefing on November 14th, explained that the Qinling Mountains are the natural habitat of giant pandas, and the panda is also the logo of the Qinling Mountains. As the national treasure, the giant pandas in the Qinling Mountains are really unique due to their rarity, appearance and mystery. Thus, they enjoy the fame of being the “the beauty among national treasures”.

The results of the Fourth National Panda Survey indicate that there are 345 wild pandas living in the Qinling Mountains, accounting for 18.5% of the total population of pandas. The number has increased by 217% from 109 in the 1980s, presenting the highest increase in the country. The pandas live in the hinterland of the Qinling Mountains, including the border areas of Xi’an, Baoji, Hanzhong and Ankang. It covers a habitat area of 3,600 square kilometers and a potential habitat of 2,446 square kilometers.

The population density of wild giant pandas in the Qinling Mountains and the possibility to meet them in the mountains ranks first within the whole country. On average at least ten giant pandas live in every 100 square kilometers in the Qinling Mountains.

The culture promotion activity of pandas in the Qinling Mountains is co-sponsored by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, and is organized by Shaanxi Forestry Administration.

The opening ceremony was held on the morning of November 19th in the Golden Hall of Tang West Market. The Research Report on Protecting Giant Pandas in the Qinling Mountains and The Initiative to Protect Giant Pandas in the Qinling Mountains were released, officially launching the panda culture promotion.

During the afternoon, the Panda Forum was held in the Golden Hall. At 19:00, the performance called “Grand Beauty In Qinling, Giant Panda in Shaanxi” was held in Xi’an Yi Su Theatre.

The panda culture exhibition lasts from November 19 to 25 in the Tang West Market Museum. It introduces the giant pandas in the Qinling Mountains to the public in detail, displays the achievements on panda protection and scientific research, and shares the experience of giant pandas conservation and habitat restoration from five aspects: the evolution history of giant pandas in the Qinling Mountains, scientific research, conservation work, cultural originality and specimen through a large number of pictures, specimens and objects. Free tickets can be available with various valid certificates.
