Hu Heping, the Secretary of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress, met with Binali Yıldırım, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and his delegation on December 5th.

Hu Heping welcomed Binali Yıldırım and his delegation on their visit to Shaanxi. According to Secretary Hu, President Xi Jinping had met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey twice in 2018, achieving significant consensus on the development of mutual relations, which promotes the strategic cooperative relations between China and Turkey to a higher level. Shaanxi is an important birthplace of the Chinese nation and civilization, and the ancient Silk Road connects its capital Xi’an and Istanbul together. Nowadays, Shaanxi is deepening its integration into the Belt and Road Initiative, and striving to develop the pivot economy, the gateway economy and the flow economy. It also continues to work towards building a new phase of all-round two-way opening up with links running eastward and westward over land and through the air. Taking this visit as an opportunity, Shaanxi is willing to implement the consensus in depth through further cooperation on economy and trade, culture, technology, tourism and transportation as well as the promotion of exchanges among regional legislative bodies, thus to make new contributions to the consolidation and expansion of China-Turkey friendly relations.

Binali Yıldırım said that he was deeply impressed by the history, culture and great achievements of Shaanxi. It is hoped that on the basis of the existing cooperation, the two countries will enrich the substance of cooperation, broaden cooperation fields, and expand people-to-people exchanges, so as to realize mutual benefit and win-win results.
