The 2018 “Jiucheng Palace Cup” Linyou Half Marathon was held in Linyou County, Baoji City of Shaanxi Province on June 10th.

The event was encompassed of both male and female half marathons. 2,500 professional athletes and road running enthusiasts from 14 provinces, regions and cities in China all took part in the event. They started from the Qinglianshan Square, via the Jiucheng Palace Site, the Ci’en Temple, the Long Flower Corridor and other local scenic spots, historical sites as well as landmarks, and then back to the starting point to finish the race. Amid the warm cheers of spectators, Chen Xin, from Shandong Province, breasted the tape first in a short time of 1:13:44.

The champion of the women’s half marathon was embraced by Jian Muhua, a famous road running star in China, with the score of 1:25:37. She once ranked among the Top Three of the women’s half marathon in both the Yellow River Mouth (Dongying) International Marathon and the Nanjing Lishui Mountain Half Marathon, and she was also the female champion of the 13.7-kilometer around-city race in the 2018 Xi’an City Wall International Marathon. “This racing track is much steeper than that of the City Wall International Marathon. Though it was my first time to participate in this event, I felt it rather challenging.” Jian said.

Linyou County has an altitude over 1,000 meters. The Jiucheng Palace Site in the county used to be the summer resort of the emperors from the Tang Dynasty.
