On December 28, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Premier of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, met with Zhichao, the Dharma Master of Famen Temple and greeted each other warmly. On the same day, Nepal visited the Museum of the Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses and Famen Temple. The winter chilliness in Guanzhong did not disappoint the visiting Premier Nepal in Shaanxi. On December 28, he visited the Museum of Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses and Famen Temple respectively and spoke highly of the long and splendid history of Shaanxi and its advanced technologies in preserving cultural relics. He expected more exchanges and cooperation with Shaanxi in various fields like culture, tourism, science and education, hydropower etc. On December 28, Nepal and his group visited the Museum for the first time. He listened earnestly to the explanation and showed great interest. Facing the magnificent Terra-Cotta Army, grand Terra-Cotta Generals and bronze chariots and horses which gathered the wisdom of ancient Chinese people, Premier Nepal sincerely appreciated the profound and brilliant culture of Shaanxi and its advanced technologies in protecting cultural relics. Nepal said that he felt honored and proud of this opportunity to visit the museum which symbolized the grand achievements of the ancient civilization of China and gathered the great wisdom of Chinese people. He also admired the great achievements in protecting the ancient civilization of China by the provincial government. Nepal and his group were deeply impressed by the grand scale and environment of Famen Temple. Nepal stated during the interview of Shaanxi media that, this was the first time for him to visit China since he took office as Premier of Nepal. Shaanxi was the place that he chose to visit by himself because the Nepalese had special and deep feelings in Shaanxi. 2,500 years ago, Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism, was born in Lumbini of Nepal, and the Nepalese thanked Famen Temple for preserving the Buddha's Finger Relic. In the 2-day visit, he was impressed not only by the cultural relics and places with historical interest of Shaanxi but also by the great achievements of Shaanxi in social and economic development. Particularly, he admired that Shaanxi kept its economic growth rate around 13.5% despite the bad effects of the international financial crisis. Nepal said that Shaanxi was a strong province in culture, tourism, science and education while Nepal had rich resources in hydropower and great natural sceneries. The friendly and hospitable people of Nepal sincerely welcomed Shaanxi people to travel in Nepal. Nepal expected more exchanges and cooperation with Shaanxi in various fields like culture, tourism, science and education, hydropower, etc. |
