Yesterday morning, China’s largest logistics base for publications – Northwest Publications Logistics Base kicked off in Xi’an International Port Zone. The completion of the project will fill in the blank of western China for lacking a large e-commerce and modern logistics center in book publishing industry. Deputy Director of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress Luo Zhenjiang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial CPPCC Li Xiaodong, Vice-director of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference Huanghe attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Vice-governor Zheng Xiaoming announced the start of the project, and Vice-mayor Hansong delivered a speech. According to the construction plan of the GAPP Book Publishing Logistics Base, 5 such bases are to be constructed, including Northwest Publications Logistics Base. This project is co-operated by Yahya Logistics Holdings (Singapore) Ltd. and Shaanxi Aoda Enterprise Group. The project was an investment of the project is 10 billion Yuan, covering an area of 1000 mu, with a construction area of 40 million square meters. It is expected to be completed in 2012. Upon completion, it will become the largest logistics base for publications. According to the construction plan, the base will be divided into 5 regions, which are exhibition and sales area, central logistics operations, warehousing and leasing area, multi-service area and public culture and leisure area. After completion, it will integrate the functions of exhibitions, whole sale and retails, sorting and dispatching, warehousing and transportation, network distribution, and multi-services, and it will also provide such services are sorting, packing, warehousing, transporting and consignment, book post-processing, library assembly, information dissemination, and logistics services. It is known that there are 2600 audio and book sales units in Xi’an; the annual sales revenue of books and audio products in the 5 provinces in northwest China amounts to 16 billion; the sales volume increases at an annual rate of 14% every year. There’s a strong market demand, but the logistics is relatively backward. Xi’an is a publishing and sales center for books and audio products in Western China, and it has a great space for future development. After the completion, the Xi’an publications logistics base would not only benefit the Xi’an people, but also radiate people in Shaanxi province, northwest China, southwest China, and Central China regions, become a symbolic project in the development of Xi’an book publishing industry, and profoundly upgrade Xi’an’s image as a famous for culture and education. Xi’an Publications Logistics Base is the 6th key project after the start of the Railway Container Center Station, Xi’an Bonded Logistics Park, Xi’an International Port Corporate Headquarters, Xinzhu Container Center, and Medicine Logistics Project in the International Port District. Entering the second half of this year, the International Port District is enlarging its areas under construction. The construction is entering a fast-developing period. What’s more, the Southeast China city in Xi’an will also soon be started. |
