Xi’an is building the longest national underground corridor with a total planned length of 350 kilometers, accounting for 20% of all the main road networks in Xi’an. On May 28th, the cute robot was independently inspecting inside the underground corridor of the 2nd Shenhe Road, Chang’an District, Xi’an city, serving as a “safeguard” for the underground corridor.

The 0.8-meter tall intelligent inspection robot named “Big Eyes” is the 2.0 Version of the underground corridor safeguard produced by China Construction Industrial and Engineering Co. Ltd under China State Construction. The robot is equipped with environmental detection sensors to monitor the real-time temperature and humidity, hazardous gas content, air oxygen content, smoke concentration and illuminance, so as to achieve a 24-hour uninterrupted intelligent inspection of lights, well lids and water levels in the comprehensive corridors. Its positioning navigation error is less than 10 mm, and it can measure the pitch angle independently and adjust its position accordingly. An automatic alarm will be triggered in Cloud database when a malfunction occurs in order to inform its manager through wireless communication.

It is known that Xi’an is constructing the largest underground comprehensive corridor around China. As an important part of urban infrastructure construction, the underground comprehensive corridor can help eliminate the urban ills including “Road Zippers” and “Overhead Spider Webs”, better utilize underground space resources and improve the city’s comprehensive carrying capacity. A group of “Big Eyes” robots will serve as the underground corridor safeguards in the future.
